THE GHOSTS OF THE PAST – Memories forgotten…

site-specific, immersive installation with sound and natural air movement from windows on 4 sides of the tower, 25 semi-transparent strips, 300 (h) x 60 cm each, hanging in rows; 4 sound tracks (placed in the corners and playing simultaneously) with old church bells, medieval chants of the Templars, nature sound: rain, wind, storm; approx. 25 sqm.

The installation “THE GHOSTS OF THE PAST” was shown in the Bell room of the St. Augustine’s Tower, London 2022, in the exhibition “RUINS OF TIME / Tower” with eight artists from London, Munich and New York. The exhibition was organised and curated by Eleonora Bourmistrov.

GHOSTS OF THE TOWER PAST

Listen to the broken sounds of the ghostly past –

Fragments of long gone, almost forgotten memories –

Like see-through shadows in the ruins of time –

Light butterflies dancing in the dust.

Hören zu den gebrochen Klängen des geisterhaften Einst –

Bruchstücke längst vergangener, fast vergessener Erinnerungen –

Wie durchsichtige Schatten in den Ruinen der Zeit –

Im Staub tanzen Licht-Schmetterlinge.

We are pilgrims to the Outremer

With crosses and roses

To the Holy Places –

Numerous tombs adorn our roads

We are travellers

Killed at Ascalon and the Field of Blood.

Guarded by warrior monks…
